Mongol Environmental Conservation’s Small Grants program supports small-scale environmental conservation work in Mongolia. The environmental challenges of our time will not be solved easily and instantly; therefore, MEC is working to strengthen the capacity of small non-governmental organizations to maximize their social impact.
Grants will range from $1000 to $5000 U.S. dollars and will be granted twice a year.
Grant proposal deadlines for 2010: February 1 and August 1, 2010
Selection criteria:
1. Groups or organizations that have acquired formal legal status in Mongolia and a bank account in the organization’s name.
2. Organizations that have an annual budget under $25,000
3. Organizations that are working in one of the three current focus areas: Water Scarcity and Pollution, Desertification & ClimateChange, Socio-Ecological Impacts of Mining
4. Submit a letter of inquiry to Mongol Environmental Conservation at grants@mongolec.org. A letter of inquiry should include an introduction to the grant-seeking organization, project description/ activities, timeline for the project and the project budget.
5. After receiving the letter, MEC staff will reply informing the applicant as to whether or not to submit a project proposal. There is no grant application form.
